Welcome to Principal’s Corner. For the month of February, we are learning about Habit 4 – Think Win-Win. We will also be learning how we can be kind to others. Just a reminder that student progress will be open for parents to view in PowerSchool as of Wednesday, February 1. Please contact the office if you are unable to access PowerSchool to see your child’s progress. Thank you to all our families who joined us this past week for our Domino Night!

Skylar Roth presented on Bell Let’s Talk Day to our grades 7, 8, and 9’s. He is known for running across Canada in 110 days for Mental Health Awareness. Some of his key messages:

    – When you are having a tough time, just talk to someone.

    – If you notice someone is having a tough time, reach out.

    – Homework: make a list that identifies things that can help change your mood for the low points.

    – You have to make an effort to help yourself.

    – Find goals that align with the passions that don’t put pressure on yourself.

    – Goals need you to be consistent, not excellent and you don’t have to be the best. Just make a plan and stick to it.

    – Your why needs to be bigger than your reason for giving up.

    – Challenges become easier when you have a strong why to keep going.

    – Set goals that scare you.

    – When you do what you love, you will meet incredible people who also love those same things.

    – You can do anything you want, as long as you don’t give up and keep pushing, don’t expect the return to be instant.

    – Use your passion and happiness as your compass.

    – We all have our own starting line and own finish line you just need a plan and the grit to push through the hard days.
