School council is a collective association of parents, teachers, secondary students, principal, staff and community representative(s) whose purpose is to advise the principal and the board respecting matters relating to the school. It is a means for parents and community members to work together with the school to support and enhance student learning.
A school council cannot be incorporated under the Societies Act or Part 9 of the Companies Act. Although a school council can fundraise, it cannot undertake fundraising endeavors that require a gaming license from the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission, such as bingos, casinos or raffles.
All parents are welcome to attend the School Council meetings.
Parent Association
Our parent association is incorporated under the Societies Act or Part 9 of the Companies Act. We undertake numerous fundraising endeavors to enrich the lives of our students. As such, we require a gaming license from the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission to hold events such as bingos, casinos, or raffles. Our fundraising efforts have gone towards various equipment upgrades around the school, such as a new CNC machine for the shop class, as well as several cultural events and speakers throughout the school year.
