Welcome to Principal’s Corner. This week we are excited to welcome Mr. Paul Davis to our school. Paul has 32 years of IT experience. He educates children and empowers parents on the topic of Social Networking and Online Safety. Mr. Davis will be speaking to our students in grades 3-9 about online safety. He is also providing a presentation for parents in the evening,, Friday, September 22 at 6:30pm. This is open to any parents in our community. Thanks to our Parent Association for supporting this presentation.

PLEASE NOTE: Parent verification forms are normally sent out by Black Gold at the beginning of September. This form allows parents to update their contact information in PowerSchool and to give us permission for walking field trips, technology agreement use, FOIP permission for photos and a number of other items. Due to some tech glitches beyond anyone’s control, there has been a delay in the notification of these forms being available. They will be coming soon and we will let you know as soon as they are available.

TECHNOLOGY UPDATE

WHAT IS BYOED?

BYOED means students have the option to bring their own devices to school for educational purposes. In the classroom, students will use devices responsibly, and only with the permission and direction of the teacher or other staff member. If students would like to bring their own device (laptop or chromebook only), we ask that they bring their fully-charged device to school daily, and bring it home each day for charging and storage.

Students are responsible for their own devices including replacement and repair. All students will use a Black Gold account for signing in and that provides protection for appropriate site access and usage. When students sign in they will have links to any software that is required.

All students in Black Gold must adhere to our Technology Admirable Use Agreement. This is something that is normally sent out to parents with the September verification forms. Since we are unsure of when the forms will be available through PowerSchool, we are asking that all parents complete the agreement using the following Links:
