Welcome to Principal’s Corner and to our Weekly Update. Thank you to all our parents who are keeping students home when they are sick or present with symptoms. We have been short substitutes this week and had to use internal coverage for classes. If your child says they had multiple people in their class, this is why. We appreciate your understanding. We are doing our best to continue to provide instruction to students.
Junior High Basketball games are postponed until February 11 at which time the Division will re-evaluate. Students can still practice in the gym after school.
We have not yet received our shipment of masks and rapid tests. They are being shipped directly to our school by the government. We will let you know once they arrive and when they will be distributed. Thanks for your patience. – Susanne Stroud, Principal

Classroom Learning
Grade 2 French Immersion students were busy making marshmellow igloos. They have been learning about three different Canadian communities. This represented their Inuit community, Iqualuit.
Our students also had fun making snowmen outside as well as being creative on indoor recess days.
Winter Art
We are enjoying some new winter art created by our students. Snowmen seem to be a theme.
Outdoor Fun in Winter
Last week, our students enjoyed some outdoor winter fun. Outdoor Education students learned how to build different snow structures. Some Junior High students also got to use the outdoor skating rink for Physical Education. Junior High students will be going skating again this week. Be sure to send them with their skates and a CSA approved helmet.

The Parent Association is currently looking for volunteers to join the Ball Hockey Tournament Planning Committee. Do you or anyone you know in the school community love hockey and/or are interested in planning a fun fundraiser event? Please consider joining this committee… all funds raised go directly to enriching the learning of EDMS students. Tasks involved include… promoting the event, registering teams, coordinating volunteers, setup, referees, medals & food trucks, organizing sponsorship & donations from local businesses & possible raffles, on-site coordination, etc. This tournament is tentatively scheduled Saturday May 14th (event will depend on Covid restrictions). Please email the Parent Association if you are interested… [email protected] Thank you!
