Welcome to Principal’s Corner and to our Weekly Update. There is no early dismissal day this week. We look forward to seeing all of our students on Monday. For the health and safety of all students and staff, it is imperative that your child stays home if they are sick. Students must stay home until symptoms resolve. Please note that AHS has updated their Daily Checklist. Please see link below. Thank you to all our families for their continued support this year as we navigate through this pandemic. We look forward to some warmer weather this week so the students can get outside for recess and play in the snow. – Susanne Stroud, Principal

    Return to School

Students will resume in-person learning on January 10, 2022. Just a couple of reminders:

Students who are sick must stay home. Students who show signs of illness at school will be sent home.

All students must bring a water bottle to school each day. The water fountains are turned off and only the bottle filling stations are open. The school does not have water bottles or cups to distribute to students.

Students are staggered for dismissal at the end of each day to avoid too many students in the boot rooms at the same time.

    Grades 1 – 3 – 2:54p.m. Grades 4 -5 –  2:57p.m. Grades 6 – 9 – 3:00 p.m.

    COVID Protocols

Students in Grades 4-9 should arrive at school on Monday with a mask. (The government masks have not yet arrived at the school). Students in Kindergarten to Grade 3 are strongly encouraged to wear a mask as well. Students are also encouraged to keep a few extra masks in their backpack so they always have one available.

We will continue to follow our procotols of masking, washing and sanitizing hands. Our school uses an alcohol-free foaming hand sanitizer that is non-drying, non-irritating, hypoallergenic. It is certified for use in Canada. Please do not send alcohol or scented type hand sanitizers with your child.

Our classes are already cohorted for PE and recess.

In the interest of our students/staff health and safety, we appreciate it when parents inform the school of a positive COVID result (PCR or rapid test). Parents are reminded that there is still a mandatory isolation perios for anyone with core symptoms or for those who test positive with either an at-home rapid test or PCR test. Click here for more information.

Black Gold COVID-19 Temporary Public Health Measures

We have not yet received our shipment of rapid tests and masks from the government. They should arrive this week. Parents will need to fill out a form on PowerSchool if you wish to receive the rapid tests. You will need to do this for each of your children in school. We will advise you when the form is ready to complete. Thank you for your patience.
