Welcome to Principal’s Corner. It was a busy week with lots of exciting learning happening in the classrooms. It is hard to believe that we fit all these things into one week. Our Grade 6- 9 students had a virtual presentation from Paul Davis who teaches about online safety. A couple of his key messages were: Students actions online can impact their parents as the phones are owned by the parents. Friends are not found or made online. Never go from your emotions to your finger tips. The internet never forgets.
Paul will be coming to our school in-person in September 2023. He will be presenting to students and will host a parent evening session as well. I certainly learned a lot from him as an educator and parent. Have a great weekend!

We continue to cheer on the Oilers as they go into Game 3 of the playoffs. Mrs. Olson was away so Mme Smith did the morning cheer with some of her students.

Pictures of the Week
Grade 5-6 Girls Floor Hockey Tournament at the Beaumont Cup.
Kindergarten classes are learning about community helpers. They had visits from many special helpers: Fire Fighter, Stars Air Ambulance, Police Officer, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). We appreciate our parents who share their talents and skills with our students.
Grade 2 students had a ‘Boats and Buoyancy’ in-school field trip this week by Teacher’s Pet. They built their own boats that propelled and participated in three other stations, learning about the different parts of a boat, buoyancy, watercrafts, etc. Thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers for helping make this day a success for all of our students. You are appreciated!
Grade 9 students had a field trip to the Canadian Energy Museum. This is part of their science curriculum.
The Grade 6 students had a presentation from Captain McClean on airplanes, flight and being a pilot. This is part of the Grade 6 science curriculum.
Our Grade 6 and Junior High Flag Football teams are enjoying their games at the Turf Centre.
In recognition of Earth Day, Mme Smith and Mme Brunel’s classes went outside to pick up some trash around our school. Thanks students for being great leaders and caring about the environment.
